About the GAP credit card
As of June 17, 2022, the Gap Inc. credit card program will move from Synchrony bank to Barclays.
If your account is transferred to Barclays as a result of this change, any payment scheduled after June 16, 2022, will be canceled and you will need to set up payments with Barclays.
If your account is not transferred to Barclays, Synchrony will close your account. If you have a balance, please continue making payments to Synchrony.

Application process
By applying, you agree that you will first be considered for the Gap Good Rewards Mastercard, this card can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted.
If you are not approved for the Mastercard, then you will automatically be considered for the Gap Good Rewards credit card which can be used in-store or online at Gap.

Online
This is a popular way to pay your Gap credit card bill because of its convenience:
- Using the portal of Synchrony or Barclays to access your account
- Find and select the “Pay your bill” option
- Choose how much you want to pay. You can make the minimum payment due, or pay the balance from your previous statement, your current balance or any amount up to your current balance

Ways to avoid late fees
If you don’t make your Gap credit card on time, you will be charged a late fee. For Synchrony cards, the regular late fee is $29. However, if late fees have been applied to your account within the last six billing cycles, the fee will increase to $40.
For cards issued by Barclays, late fees can reach $41. Here are some steps you can take to avoid them.
- First, make sure you know when your payment is due. Most credit card companies will send you a statement each month with your payment due date. Mark this date in your calendar and set a reminder so you don’t forget it.
- If you can’t pay the full balance when it’s due, try to make at least a partial payment. Many credit card companies will waive late fees if you make a partial payment, so it’s worth a try.
- Finally, if you know you’ll be late with a payment, call your credit card company and let them know. They may be able to work with you to arrange a payment plan or something similar.
